Pivotal Construction is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent based in or willing to travel within the Midwest and surrounding regions. This role will lead on-site construction operations with a strong focus on tenant improvement (TI) projects, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This position requires flexibility to travel to various project locations as needed.
This is a 12-month contract position with the option to convert to full-time based on performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage multiple stakeholders while maintaining strong field presence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all on-site construction activities from mobilization through closeout
Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
Maintain strict adherence to safety standards and company policies
Read and interpret plans, specs, and schedules
Lead daily site meetings and provide progress updates
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and design teams
Identify and resolve field issues proactively
Maintain project documentation including daily logs, reports, and inspections
Ensure quality control and punch list completion
Qualifications
8+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
Strong background in Tenant Improvement (TI) projects (REQUIRED)
Experience with retail, restaurant, or light industrial projects preferred
Proven ability to manage multiple trades and fast-track schedules
Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and safety protocols
Ability to travel regularly (multi-state projects)
Proficient in construction management software (Procore preferred)
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
