This preowned 1966 Rickenbacker 360 finished in Mapleglo, is in excellent playing condition, with original case. While absolutely in great shape for its age, it does have some buckle rash on the back of the body which is visible at certain angles. The neck has some slight cosmetic wear from years of making great music, just waiting for you to leave your mark.
The original case does have outer wear but still provides protection.
Everything is original, except necessary cosmetic work around the pick-up cavities, where humbuckers had been installed, and a replacement Rickenbacker Boutique shop antique pickguard. (original 1966 white pickguard is included in the case)
The playability is perfect. The guitar features a very distinct bird's-eye maple on the back. The finish is remarkably preserved with very few dents, dings, or wear. It is always beautifully intonated and stays in tune, making it a great live guitar due to its reliability therein. Acoustically, the guitar is extremely loud and resonant, with a very thick and full chime when strumming an open E chord. When plugged in, it nails everything from The Birds to The Beatles to Tom Petty. All electronics function without issue. The guitar is the perfect player.
With the original Rickenbacker case, included is a Rattlesnake splitter and stereo cable to be used for the famous “Ric-O-Sound” stereo capability.
All work and expert set-up performed by Hayes Productions in Goshen, Ohio
The Rickenbacker 360 is one of the defining guitars of the 1960s, easily recognized for its space age looks and bright tones and sounds associated with some of the biggest bands of the day, the Beatles and Who to name a couple. Introduced as part of the 300 series of thin hollow-bodies in the late 1950s, the rounded-edge version became a fixture through the mid-’60s and is forever tied to the music of that era.
This 1966 example has the deluxe appointments of the 360 model: carved maple body with checkerboard back binding, bound sound hole, maple/walnut neck, and lacquered padauk fingerboard with crushed pearl inlays. It has new Boutique shop Rickenbacker originally spec’d pickups, and five-knob control layout. The electronics function as they did when this guitar was produced in August of 1966.
This 1966 360 hollow body features a Mapleglo finish on the maple body, with bound cat's eye sound hole, 3-piece maple/walnut neck, bubinga fingerboard with triangle inlays. Gibson humbucking pickups were installed at some point in this guitar’s life. The pots date 17th week of 1966, with original vintage-style tuners.
