Note from the inventor:
I have field-tested the "Leaf Catcher" for over twenty years. Please understand what the "Leaf Catcher" was designed to do. I designed it to keep out small particles of debris, such as tiny twigs, maple seeds (those little helicopters), oak clusters, dead bugs and numerous other items that always seem to find their way into the guttering system and eventually clog up the underground drains, or get into the private water supply {cistern}.
These impurities can and will eventually turn the water supply foul, causing a yellowing of the water and giving the water a bad taste. These impurities are billions upon billions of dead and dying bacteria; thus becoming a health hazard for anyone who ingests the water. Even bathing in it can cause bacterial infections. Many people who own cisterns will not drink the water because of this reason but have no reservations to bathing in it. They disconnect the gutter system from the cistern {which is an excellent source of free water}, and are forced to buy their water and have it trucked in or purchase expensive "bottled water" to drink.
The "Leaf Catcher" will help clean up the water by keeping most of the bacteria causing material out of the system. Many homes are being built today out in rural areas away from any public water facilities and therefore require a self-supporting water system. I have had just such a system and can speak from experience. This experience has caused me to create the "Leaf Catcher". Ever since I installed the "Leaf Catcher" in my downspouts I have saved at least $80.00 every two years on filters alone. It also saved the water pump from excessive wear and tear. The overall benefit is to mention the cleaner and safer water.
The "Leaf Catcher" is very simple to install and easy to clean out. And it works best in conjunction with gutter screen or some form of gutter cover. So, for just a few dollars, I believe that the "Leaf Catcher" would be a great investment for any homeowner.
