💓Though my classroom reading intervention and privately tutored students have made great strides in their skills, my homeschooled children are my magnum opus. One of them scored 35/36 on both the Reading and English sections of the ACT. This was the main factor in earning an $8,000 per year merit award at the University of North Texas Honors College. He graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Economics and was offered a marketing apprenticeship within weeks of graduation. There were 800 applicants for this position.
I charge $520/month for two weekly sessions of 55 minutes. We can focus on decoding/spelling, reading comprehension, or writing.
Parents receive quarterly progress reports for struggling readers. Writing students build a composition portfolio, including summaries, stories, personal narrative essays, academic essays, and literary critiques.
We can unlock your child’s full potential with flexible, customized lessons. No long-term contracts required.
🔵TESTIMONIALS
"We initially sought out Mrs. Franklin's help for one of our struggling readers. She was one of the only tutors we found who used the Spell to Write and Read (SWR) curriculum. We didn't just want any help, we wanted the best. Over a short time, Mrs. Franklin successfully advanced our daughter's reading and comprehension skills. Since then, we have put three more of our children through SWR tutoring with Mrs. Franklin. She engages the children well, they advance in their skill level quickly, and they always say they never want to stop tutoring with her! We appreciate Mrs. Franklin's attention to detail, and we are very thankful to have found her as a tutor. We highly recommend Susan Franklin as a tutor; she will successfully guide your child to become a confident reader."

💥I just want to comment that Susan is amazing! My daughter was really struggling, reading at below grade level, and just didn't want to study because of how difficult it was for her. She was at the point where she was crying even thinking about going to school. After working with Susan, she immediately improved in her spelling and after meeting twice a week for about a year, my daughter is on the A/B honor roll and can read anything you give her. What is most important is she has regained her love of school and ENJOYS reading! If you even think your kid has room for improvement in reading or spelling, hire Susan now! She really knows what she is talking about and you won't regret it.

💥I highly recommend CLASSICAL START TUTORING. My son Matthew, who has struggled in class with reading/ writing, has been working with Mrs. S and has really benefited. Since he has been attending tutoring (July 2016) his reading skills and confidence have improved tremendously; his school teachers have noticed the change from last year.
In the past, we have tried other various teaching tools from online videos, flashcards, and phonics in which became overwhelming. This led to frustration with our son and no direction in place to help him. Matthew and I visited with Mrs. S expressing our concerns regarding his reading issues that he has been experiencing at school, she presented a plan on how to approach with comprehensive lessons that Matthew has followed. Mrs. S has shown flexibility in working with us on scheduling tutoring around soccer practices and other things that may arise. My wife and I are most grateful for the hard work and patience that Mrs. S has shown Matthew
This makes us proud as parents knowing that our son can now read and that we have chosen the right person to teach Matthew. Thank you, Mrs. S!!"

💥Ms. S has been a tremendous help to my daughter academically. She came highly recommended by one of the teachers at the Cedar Hill location. I entered my daughter into a tutoring session with Ms. S, twice a week. After the second week, I noticed a tremendous change in her academics. Prior to my daughter going to her, she was two grades behind due to medical illness. Her teacher was amazed at her academic progress. Her report card grades have also improved significantly. She was in Tier II; now, she is in Tier I. The program that Ms. S is using an awesome program for non-readers and struggling readers.
