Hi, the scale works perfectly and is great condition but unfortunately their was a design flaw as the headpiece of the stadiometer was made out of poor quality plastic and became brittle over time. It is battery operated and takes 12 AA batteries but you can get a power cord for it. I do have four of them but only one still has this piece intact but it will break off when lifted. I believe a crafty person could replace it with a metal headpiece but it wouldn't be easy. It may help to contact the company for a replacement piece but it is riveted on and will need to be drilled out and replaced with a new pin and it would be good to go. I am firm on $400. If you bought more I would lower the price by $20 off each one.
