For sale: 1997 Ford Ranger Regular Cab Short Bed. I am the original owner. It has been a great truck for us for 28 years. I have all of the maintenance records. It has never been smoked in. It has never been in any accidents. In-bed lockable aluminum tool box. Green exterior with a gray interior. It's in good condition with 162,559 miles currently on the odometer. There are absolutely no leaks nor have there ever been. Starts in any weather and runs great. Newer battery and tires.
Key features:
• 4-cylinder, 2.3-liter engine
• Manual 5-speed transmission
• 2-wheel drive
• Sliding rear window
• AM/FM stereo with cassette player
• Steel wheels
As with any older vehicle there are a few issues:
-Horn doesn't work as the the bracket broke off from the frame.
-Some cracks in the seat.
-Deteriorating headliner.
-Cracked windshield. (Been cracked for 12 years and has caused me no issues so I never replaced it.)
-On very hot days and after longer drives the clutch pedal becomes "spongy". After a few hours when the transmission cools down it is fine. It has only happened to me 5 times in the past 4 years, all on very hot summer days. A very reputable transmission shop has told me that this is a common issue with this transmission and can be fixed with a new slave cylinder. (This issue and remedy can be confirmed with a Google search.)
It's been a great truck for us for 28 years but we decided to get a new Maverick and we don't need both. Perfect as a daily driver and light hauling.
