Belt drive, so there are no gears. I can comfortably get up to around 25mph - although I rarely go that fast since I usually ride on bike trails. The electric pedal assist is smooth and works very well, and there is also a throttle button on left side of handlebar. Great bike - no issues with it. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
