Belle went missing one late Saturday afternoon. She's old, deaf, and lets her nose do the walking. I thought my husband had an eye on her, but he thought I did. She doesn't usually go farther than our yard, looks up, if she doesn't see me or the other 2 dogs, she heads to the house or garage.
My daughter put her on a Craigslist and I searched out other sites, LMD one of them. I printed up fliers and put them around the neighborhood that night. It was grueling, to say the least. My daughter gave me Babs Fry's number, who gave us some tips we weren't aware of.
I put out large, pink poster boards with her picture and info in black felt pen. Feet from the mailbox on a light pole it was seen within the hour of putting it up. We got the call! The neighbor thought she was a stray. They were gentle with her. She wouldn't eat or drink, so they got some gourmet wet food and put chicken broth in the water for her.
I felt she wouldn't have made it the week, because she's 15 1/2 yrs old and rather frail. Not eating for days would do her in. We are all happy she's home! She's back on her anti-inflammatory, eating and drinking fine.
I would highly recommend LMD. The encouragement of other pet owners looking out for her was very calming! I actually thought I'd never see her again, she would pass and I wouldn't be there with her. She will pass one day, but if in my power I will be there holding her tight and she will know how loved she is!
