Blacks Third Edition in Very Good to Excellent condition. Definitely one of the best overall exteriors I've seen on a third edition in my 30 years dealing books. It shows only very minor edge wear to the corners; a definite rarity as this area always gets worn from being pulled off the shelves. Other than the edge wear and a few pencil thin marks on the front cover, there is virtually no color variation between the front, spine and back covers - extremely uniform throughout, another rarity! The colors are bright, solid and uniform, without any of the sunfade often seen on these older copies. The front hinge is solid, with just a little bit of play at the bottom. The rear hinge is rock solid.

The interior is also in very good condition with only minor points to note - a prior owners name on the front blank end page. Several lightly dog eared pages at the very tips (nothing even near the text). On page 35-36 there is a small hole between the pages and it affects about 4 words total, all of which are easily readable/definable by context. Otherwise, the interior is excellent, with crisp, clean pages and no noted writing, highlighting or underlining to be seen. The lack of wear on the book and the uniform coloration clearly indicate this book sat on the shelf more as a display piece than as a working reference book. If you would like an extremely nice display piece - this is it! If you'd like a working dictionary in great shape, this is also it!
As you can see, I take the time to thoroughly and accurately describe my books and don't just say "Its in good condition for its age". Gee, I've got a 4 billion year old rock. It's in good condition for its age too, wanna buy it?!?
Overall Very Good to Excellent. #4
Will trade toward silver coins, rock tumbler, gift certificates/gift cards, massage, knives or the opportunity to metal detect older (pre-1920) properties. Or just offer whatever and I'll let you know. Cash and partial trade works.
