I love connecting past history into modern times. This video shows the clues of the train station at the intersection of the track and Burney lane in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was the former Interurban / Suburban track of the CGPR, the Cincinnati Georgetown and Portsmouth Railroad at the Ellenora / Cedar Point station. Also know as CG&P. Included in the video the history of the main building of Humboldt Park, its glory and fate during the prohibition and its conversion into an apartment building, still standing today.
You see in order:
00:00 Vintage photo including the train station
00:13 My lot that ends in the old track right of way
00:47 Still existing: part of the cinder retaining wall of the train station
01:33 Existing coal which indicates the location of the train station
02:48 #1 narrow gauge steam locomotive and railcars
03:27 Schematic of the train station
04:05 Cedar Point station, electrified track and electric locomotive
04:07 Humbolt Park
06:04 Ex Humbolt Park building today
06:21 The End and credits
The train station had three names: Shinn's Grove, Cedar Point and finally Ellenora (due to the confusion with Cedar Point on Lake Erie).
