The study is for men and women who have Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). PAD is also known as “hardening of the arteries”. In PAD, the inside of the blood vessel becomes narrow and blood flow is reduced. PAD affects about 8-12 million people in the US. It can lead to serious health problems such as stroke, heart attack, or amputation. Early symptoms of PAD may include cramping, or pain in the legs and heavy or tired legs while exercising or at rest. Only about one third of all people with PAD feel pain. Most people with PAD have no symptoms at all.
There are many treatments used to improve blood flow in the blood vessels. DEFINITIVE™ Ca++ is a research study that will test the safety and use of two devices designed to improve blood flow. All patients who meet the study criteria and who provide informed consent will undergo testing to determine eligibility, followed by a procedure using study devices designed to remove plaque. Patients will be scheduled for follow-up assessments pre-discharge and 30-days following the procedure.
Who
Healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 50 years old who are willing to stay in an outpatient facility for at least 4 to 7 days may be eligible to participate.
Pay
Participants will receive up to $1,000 for their time and effort.
Positions available are dependent on the location at which you choose to volunteer.
Volunteers are expected to commit 2-3 hours of time per week, for a minimum of 2-3 months. If you are interested in only working on projects periodically, we could use that sort of help as well. Your volunteer schedule can be flexible and based on your own personal schedule. Most of our offices are open on M-F from 8am to 5pm, and some are also open on Saturdays from 9-12.

The Pandan village is located in Rembang regency. The word “Pandan” itself means such kind of leaf which smells good and it can also be used to make a plaited mat.The village provides natural scenery and is far away from polution. This is a pilot project in an elementary school in Rembang regency intended to give some contributions to the educational program in the school and influence positively the develpment of the village, while promoting international solidarity and intercultural encounters. In this context, a team of international volunteers is invited to take part both in renovating the area and in educational activities.
The project will be in Pandan Elementary School with around 100 students and 10 local teachers. The volunteers will help in the renovation and painting of the local school. The educational activities with the children will involve mainly teaching English and basic hygiene practices like cleaning hands, cutting nails, etc.
Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the Javanese particularities.
Leisure time: During the free time, the volunteers may visit Goa Akbar (Big Cave) and Goa Maharani (Maharani Cave). Near these caves, there is a tourist site called Wisata Bahari Lamongan (the site lies along the beach and is completed with some interesting games, performances and a swimming pool).

Creative, entertainment and awareness activities in schools and kindergartens in Pondicherry

Pondicherry, one of the former French Colonies, is located on the East Coast of India. It is one of the most tourist places in the region and has a lot to offer to the visitor. Its laidback atmosphere and amazing beaches give it a very distinctive touch. It is also a prime location for learning yoga and meditation in one of its many ashrams. It is also the home of Auroville, a famous international community created by the Guru Sri Auro Bindo. The volunteer project is organized in cooperation with an active local NGO in the field of education and renovation. In the past years many schools and villages have benefited from the work done by international volunteers, including the 2004 Tsunami-hit regions. A shelter for children and old aged people was opened in a village 10 km from the city, providing support to the poorer sections of the population in the district. The volunteers will be involved in various activities ranging from manual work at the center, creative and entertainment activities in schools and kindergartens and spreading awareness on issues related to education, environment protection, health and hygiene. The idea is to tackle the burning issues that the rural population is facing.
My mother had to be in a care facility for a little bit of time and I was there everyday to see her and be supportive for her. When went I saw folks who NEVER had a visitor and always looked longingly at my mother and commented on how lucky she was ! I always took time to stop and talk or chat with them and sometimes brought them little gifts or things they needed. They lit up like "Christmas" no matter what time of the year.
A word or good deed is what some of thee folks need.
What I would like to do is collect little things ( gifts or needed items) and choose a nursing facility and go weekly from now until Christmas to brighten someones life.
If you have little things you think they would like.. PLEASE HELP ME COLLECT THEM and get together to go visit some folks.. Spread some cheer !!!!
