GINGER'S story is heartbreaking. She was brought to one of our foster homes by "owners" who had starved and neglected her. She had just had puppies, and they tossed her out, no longer interested in her, despite the years of loyal companionship she'd given. And thank God for that--- now Ginger is a healthy 4 or 5 year old Lab and Amstaff Mix, no more than 50 lbs and a gorgeous redish "ginger" color. Ginger is a dominant female and does OK with most dogs, but she is best with younger males who will accept her matriarchy. Ginger would also be very happy in a home with no other animals, as she is a LOVEBUG. She is very good with men and women AND CHILDREN. In her first foster home, two young toddlers would lead her around by her collar, and she seemed happy to oblige. Ginger is a special, adorable mature girl-- not old, but definitely well into adulthood. She walks well on a leash and would be the perfect companion to someone looking for a housetrained, obedience trained, mellow, lower key dog.

Beautiful AZURE was saved at the last second from a shelter where animals on the euthanasia list are gassed to death with carbon monoxide. Thank goodness we just happened to see her little face on facebook the night before it was to be her last day. Azure is a sweet happy girl who has really hit hard times. She is friendly with people and other dogs, and will make a great family pet. For hounds, a fenced-in yard is a must, and we prefer breed experience. Our Azure is a loving and gentle soul, and we'd love to find her a loving but firm family to gently set boundaries for her and enforce the rules with kindness.

She will need a GENTLE but FIRM disciplinarian, as she is very sensitive, but will thrive with boundaries and attention. Ashley was saved from situation where she was left untreated for a severe skin infection. The poor puppy was 4 mos old and miserable. Today, she has fully recovered and her medical treatment is complete. Ashley is crate trained, learning to walk on a leash and a real sweetheart. With her gorgeous apricot colored fur, she should have been named "Peaches"-- apply to meet out Ashley today if you're looking for a large, sensitive, sweet female pup for your family.

Duke would make a great family dog. He knows how to sit and shake and has a great temperment. He is neutered and current on vaccines and is heartworm negative.

Well we have a stray now. He is an amazing dog. But has a ton of puppy left in him. He wants to 'play' with the cat... though now it might be more like... eat the cat... they are NOT getting along together at all. He seemed to want to play with her and she didn't want any part of it, NOW (after tonight) he will likely want to eat her and she still doesn't like him. We have kept them seperate and had plans on working on their 'social' skills with each other. But when our hot water heater went out, so did our plans on socializing them. But a door was opened and he was there and so was she and well... no one is horribly injured but if my husband hadn't tore them apart someone might be worse off.

Now I'm sure many will say 'get rid of the stray'. That's just it. We wanted to get another dog because our one dog is very old and likely to pass. Our other dog has grown up with the oldest and we don't want her to grieve herself to death if the oldest dies. So we had plans on getting a dog before the stray arrived. So we don't want to get rid of the stray and at this rate we won't be able to get any new dog with the cat and her HUGE dog issues now.

Question is, does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work out? Please spare me any stupid comments or hate mail. I am trying to make all the animals involved a better life. But I can't keep them seperate forever.
