Position Purpose:<br>
Perform skilled and more difficult work to maintain, repair, inspect, install, rebuild, and construct all types of power plant electric and control equipment throughout the station including the diagnosis and correction of trouble that develops in such equipment and structures throughout the station including the diagnosis and correction of trouble that develops in such equipment.<br>

Major Accountabilities: <br>
•	Employee will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices. <br>
•	Employee acting in conjunction with supervision or individually as directed by supervision will assist and/or direct the training of other employees in the correct operating procedures necessary to fully satisfy the classification duties of Instrument & Electrical Technician A and all lower classifications within the subject line of progression or other duties with which the employee is familiar. <br>
•	Employee will, when directed by supervision, report to assigned locations for the purpose of receiving training and will actively participate in the training activities. <br>
•	Employee will carry out assignments in training for and/or performing fire fighting and first aid. <br>
•	Employee will exhibit an adequate competency level pertaining to activities delineated in the Duties and Qualifications sections of this job classification. Demonstrate such competency via performance of job duties and training and testing programs administered at intervals prescribed by Louisville Gas and Electric to assure correct classification of employees. <br>
•	Employee will, during the normal performance of his duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury. <br>
•	Employee will perform duties of lower or higher classifications that are incidental to the job and are within his/her capabilities including those needed for the purpose of training in the requirements of the higher classifications. <br>
•	Employee will keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. <br>
•	Employee will report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed. <br>
•	Employee will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment. <br>
•	Employee will compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required. <br>
•	Employee will represent the Company to the community with attention to the highest standard of conduct, appearance and attitude. <br>

SPECIFIC DUTIES <br>
•	Employee will perform skilled and more difficult work to maintain, repair, inspect install, rebuild, and construct all types of power plant electric and control equipment throughout the station; diagnose the causes of and correct trouble that develops in such equipment. <br>
•	Employee will perform work in connection with the installation, inspection, diagnosis, calibration, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, instrumentation and control systems. Typical jobs could include installation and maintenance work on motors, generators, transformers, solenoids, exciters, precipitators, circuit breakers, conduit, cables, cable trays, controls, transmitters, meters, relays, analog and digital instrumentation and other electric, electronic, and pneumatic equipment and controls. <br>
•	Employee will use test and diagnostic equipment such as voltage meters, oscilloscopes, megger equipment, etc. <br>
•	Employee will mark blueprints to show any field changes which may have been made. 5. Employee will lay out any type scaffolding and rigging used in the work; direct or work on the scaffolding, rigging, and blocking. <br>
<br>
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS<br>
•	Employee must be able to speak, understand, read and write English, and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. <br>
•	Employee must posses a minimum of a two year associates degree in Electronics or Engineering Technology. <br>
•	Employee must be able to learn to use the tools and equipment required in the work. Employee must be thoroughly familiar with the Company Safety Rules and willingly see that they are enforced. <br>
•	Employee must have a valid state driver's license and pass the Transportation Department's driver's test for operating Company vehicles. <br>
•	Employee must be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions. Employee must be willing to report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed. Employee must be in good health and be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which include work at heights and heavy manual labor. <br>
•	Employee must be willing and able to communicate through both verbal and written reports. <br>
•	Employee must have demonstrated ability to carry through work assignments, and must be able to obtain cooperation and satisfactory work from others assigned to work with him/her. <br>
•	Employee must have demonstrated proficiency in the ability to perform the duties associated with the lower classification(s) within the line of progression. <br>
•	Employee must be able to lead, direct, and train other employees assigned to work with him/her to obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results. <br>
•	Employee must be rated qualified for entry into this classification under the Louisville Gas and Electric Company's Employee Performance Review Program and have satisfactorily completed all applicable training and testing programs. <br>
•	Employee must have satisfied all attendance criteria adopted by the Company pertaining to this classification. <br>
•	Employee must have at least 24 months experience as I/E Technician B or equivalent and successful completion of all training and testing programs required in that classification.<br>
Special Qualifications: <br>
Employee must have demonstrated a thorough working knowledge of: <br>
•	The layout, construction, function, and operation of electrical and control equipment and apparatus in the station. <br>
•	The practical and efficient methods of maintenance and repair work. <br>
•	The safe rigging and scaffolding practices and the use of tackle, hoists, and ladders used in the work. <br>
•	Employee must be able to read, interpret, and work from complex blueprints, one line and electrical diagrams, logic diagrams, instruction books, and procedures.<br>

• Directs planning activities related to environmental compliance. <br>
• Provides information and assists in the development of plant budgets, operating, and investment plans. <br>
• Develops and conducts environmental compliance training, tailgates, and information sessions for plant personnel. <br>
• Develops and oversees waste reduction, recycling and alternative product programs. <br>
• Coordinates permitting in the water and hazardous waste areas. <br>
• Performs other duties as assigned.<br>

Recommended Education/Experience: <br>
•	Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional environmental related work experience.<br>
Special Qualifications: <br>
•	Must possess knowledge of environmental theories, principles, and practices. <br>
•	Knowledge of power plant operations/equipment. <br>

Requirements:

To qualify candidates will have program management experience including coordinating and interfacing with multi-functional groups, setting up budgets, master schedules and working with customers. Candidates must be able to calculate earned value on projects. Exposure to electro mechanical design and development with military or defense related organizations is required. Good internal and external communication skills required. Candidates must have experience with coordinating and directing multi-disciplined engineers and various functional areas on project completion.  An active security clearance is also considered a plus.
